Advanced Projects
Some aircraft that didn't quite make it into combat, but were nevertheless almost ready at the end of the war.

Dornier Do335B-2 "Pfiel" (Arrow)
The ultimate expression of piston-engined heavy fighters. Though it never saw operational service, the 335 was nearing production, and many had flown in test, when the war ended.
This is the "Zerstorer" (bomber destroyer) version with heavy cannon armament.
Thr gorgeous Tamiya 1/48 scale kit in conjectural markings for II/ZG.26 in defense of the Reich.

Dornier Do335A-12 "Anteater"
The 2-seat trainer version. The hump back and long nose lead to its nickname.
Here I decided to turn DML's 1/72 scale jewel into a tropicalized version. I scarfed sand filters from two Bf-109 kits, and painted the plane in JG-27 colors for North Africa.

Dornier Do335A-12
Never happy, I tried it again, only bigger.
This is Tamiya's 1/48 scale 2-seater given the same tropicalizing treatment as above.

Dornier Do335B Night Fighter
As with all projects near war's end, a night fighter version was proposed to combat Britain's night bombing capaign. There is evidence that that a prototype for this version flew.
DML's kit, with the wing guns from the B version added. I wanted to see how much crap one could stick on a wing.
