The August Tibbit Story: Our friend Kevin is an actor. We often talk entertainment, as part of a group of friends who, in our youth in the 70s and 80s, came up with ideas for movies which we planned to shoot on Super-8 film. One day Kevin called my house when I was out. My grandmother took the message, and mis-heard his name as "August Tibbit." Once we figured out who she meant, we all decided it was a great name for a cheap detective. Thus was born...
One year on Kevin's birthday, my wife Mary (who builds dollhouses) and I decided to see what August Tibbit's detective office might look like, and build it as a 1/12 scale room box. Mary lent her talents to creating the room and sculpting small items out of Sculpy clay. I spent my time building what I could out of plastic, and creating books, files, videotape jackets and posters out of paper, colored with magic marker. We presented it to Kevin on his birthday. |
