Wish List

This is my list of model kits that are NOT made, that I wish were. I know many that I mention are available as expensive resin lits of varying quality, and as expensive limited-run plastic kits of “experienced modelers only” quality. So don’t bug me with “You can get…” emails; I know, I know. What I long for is high-quality, superbly accurate injection-molded styrene kits with exquisite detail of the kind put out by companies such as Hasegawa, Tamiya, Trumpeter, Eduard and Dragon.

AIRCRAFT

An aircraft kit series featuring U.S. military aircraft proposals and prototypes that didn’t make it to production, from WWII to the present. Each should feature a detailed cockpit with open/closed canopy parts and phot-etched seat harness, detailed landing gear wells, and weighted tires. Parts should be included to produce any prototype that was actually built, plus parts for a  speculative production version (such as armament and ordnance, including detailed weapons bays). Decals should be included for any prototypes built, plus speculative markings for a production airplane in a contemporary active duty squadron. I favor 1/48 scale for fighters and either 1/72 or 1/144 for bombers, depending on their size.

My favorite subject! There are too many to list them all, and I basically want all of them in quality styrene versions, 1/48 for fighters and 1/72 for bombers. Unlimite Racing Planes
Unlimited racing planes are are WWII fighters converted for racing, many of them with extreme modifications to increase their speed. They meet at Reno, Nevada and scream around a closed course of pylons at 400+ MPH. Most of them have been racing for decades, and their look has changed often, both modifications and paint schemes. Multiple models kits could represent these planes in several of their incarnations (in 1/48, of course). I can’t name them all, but here are some examples:

SCIENCE FICTION

There’s a ton of sci fi models available in the form of resin garage kits. While many of them are outstanding models, they’re still very expensive, disallowing the opportunity to buy multiple copies to make multiple versions and kitbashes.
